Hygiene, Social Distance and Prevention

Curaçao has introduced basic measures of hygiene and social distancing that remain in effect.  The goal is to help prevent and fight COVID-19 on the island. These measures are applicable for everyone, both residents and visitors:

  • Wash your hands frequently with water and soap and/or use hand sanitizer 
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow or shoulder 
  • Maintain a 2 meter distance 
  • Wear a mask in public and crowded places 
  • Avoid agglomeration 
  • If possible, work from home more often 
  • Open windows to stimulate natural ventilation 
  • If you have COVID-19 symptoms: stay home, call you doctor and take a test 

Some common COVID-19 symptoms are: headache, high fever, dry cough and sore throat, difficulty with breathing 

MANDATORY USE OF FACEMASK 

The use of a facemask remains mandatory when visiting the following public places listed below. Furthermore, the use of facemask is recommended in all other places and organizations. 

  • Supermarket
  • Minimarket
  • Small grocery store
  • Clothing store
  • Bakery
  • Pharmacy
  • Hospital and clinics
  • Book store
  • Hardware store
  • Public transportation 
  • Barber, hair salon and beauty salon
  • Funeral agency
  • Casino
